Starting part time business tax question

Registered users do not see advertisement
For the next year, I am planning to rent a house in NoVa and start a part-time web-based business, which is currently not registered. I will try to keep my full time job. What can I do to save taxes? Do I have to register my business?

I would get a FEIN number, good to have although not required. Use this in place of your SS#, Its like SS for business. When businesses ask for SS give them that, perfectly legal and best thing to do. Fill out Form SS-4 to get FEIN at irs.gov. I would not even think about LLC or S-Crap until you start making money, there are legal fees, filing fees, etc, etc. Go see a small EA or tax CPA to discuss YOUR situation. Ask a friend or your BANKER for a referral. You will need to register with your city for business license,[most cities require this BEFORE you start, call city hall and ask them]. Keep a log book of all your expenses and mileage. You MAY be able to get a home office deduction, its somewhat cumbersome and it MAY or MAY NOT be worth effort. Talk to EA or tax CPA(not all do tax) they will give you guidance.
Good luck

Nice advice theCPA. Maybe she should contact a tax CPA so she will be guided accordingly.

well if you dont register your business you will surely saved some bucks from taxes but i think i will become illegal if is not registered. i suggest you must register it to avoid conflicts.
