New Payroll System and period crossing years

Registered users do not see advertisement
Hi everyone,

I have a general question. We are moving to a new payroll system on 12/19 with a period of 12/19 to 1/1. typically our manual checks attach themselves to the next pay date, which in this case is 1/6 for reporting but we are still issuing paper checks with dates from 12/19 to 12/31. I am on the fence about using the old payroll system to report any terminations and paper checks to 12/31 or if its ok to just record them in the new system and attach them to the 2017 earnings since the employees will also be recording time and the new system will be the system of record starting on December 19.

Have any of you been in this predicament?
