I have five years of unpaid taxes due to the state of Oregon going back to 2004. If I were to just send a check to the Dept of Revenue for more than the expected total amount due, would they simply accept that and refund any overpayment? Case closed? I don't have the means or time to file individual returns right now, and if they figure the taxes and send me notices/bills, that could take a long time. I'm wanting to know if I can resolve this quickly with a check in the mail. thanks -
